REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing structural engineering using the Ontario Building Code or National Building Code. 
  • At a minimum, must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Must be licensed P.Eng. with Professional Engineers Ontario. 
  • Must have knowledge and experience of the Ontario Building Code and National Building Code.  
  • Drafting skills (AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Revit)
  • Practical fieldwork competencies: measuring buildings/structures, ladder use, small tool use, surveying (laser level and rod)
  • Knowledge of structural design for both Part 3 and Part 9 buildings
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Assertive, self-motivated and show initiative 
  • Technical report writing
  • Competence in MS Office Programs: Word, Excel, etc. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Class “G” driver’s license and vehicle required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completing site investigations to gather field data for projects including measurements, observations, limited destructive investigation
  • Completing site inspections during construction 
  • Preparing structural designs and drawings for Part 3 and Part 9 buildings and other structures.
  • Preparing technical reports and site inspection reports
  • Assisting in bid and proposal preparation as required. 
  • Main point of client contact, overall project management
  • Occasional travel may be required. 

 

Salary commensurate with experience and subject to review. 3 month probation required.
